The England manager Questions Wembley Fan Atmosphere Following Comfortable Wales Victory.

The England head coach expressed his sadness that the Three Lions team did not get greater support from the Wembley crowd during their commanding 3-0 friendly victory on Thursday evening.

The manager was satisfied to see his squad maintain their winning momentum, with strikes from Morgan Rogers, Watkins, and Bukayo Saka inside the opening quarter deciding the game. But, he was not content with the mood at the iconic venue.

“We had one and a half training days to get ready against a drilled team and we performed excellently,” Tuchel commented. “We could have been five goals ahead at the break. We missed the additional goals. The stadium was silent. There was no support back from the stands. Our team gave their all to win.”

“How much more can you deliver in the first quarter? We didn’t let them get away. If you hear just Wales fans for half an hour, it’s sad because the squad warranted better encouragement today.”

“I stand by my words. We cannot do more than leading 3-0 in a rivalry match. I would have wished for a bit more support in moments where it is challenging.”

“In the second half, to cheer us on, there was excessive support for Wales. It might have aided us to recharge, but that’s football and so be it.”

Selection Choices Justified by Display

Apart from risking a fight with fans, the manager also raised eyebrows by leaving out Bellingham and Phil Foden from his team selection. However the decision was justified by Morgan Rogers delivering another standout performance in the attacking midfield role and scoring his first international goal.

“That’s his style,” Tuchel noted. “He is a No 10 and he is competing for his spot.”

Bellamy Seeks Lessons from Loss

Craig Bellamy expressed hope that Wales, who host a strong Belgian side in a crucial qualifying match on next week, learn from their disappointing first-half display.

“That’s the reason I scheduled this friendly,” the manager said. “I wanted to assess our current level. Where do we want to go? Who do we want to be? Today fills me with inspiration.”

Injury Concern for Watkins

Ollie Watkins was taken off at half-time after hitting a post and is a concern when England play their next opponents in the Latvian capital in a World Cup qualifying match on next week.
